– This fact is well known, but we would like to refresh this knowledge just once more. Canada is huge!! Did you know that in Canada alone there are 6 different time zones?! That is amazing! 9 984 670 square meters is this country’s size. This is some serious measurement don’t you think?

– Did you know that Canada owns the longest street in the world? Well, I did not know that! Apparently, Yonge Street in Ontario, which starts at Lake Ontario goes north, also through the city Ontario, all the way to the Minnesota border, which gives it an estimation of almost 2000 kilometres long. Amazing indeed don’t you think?

– Well and that is not the only ‘longest’ record Canada has. Canada has also the longest coastline in the world. This is estimated around 202 080 km long.

– Did you know that Winnie-the-Pooh character is originated from a real Canadian little bear? This bear was exported from Canada to London when it was only a cub,. The cub was called Winnepeg and was the favourite attraction of a small boy named Christopher Robin Milne, who visited the little bear almost every day. The father of the boy got inspired to start writing stories about adventures of a boy and a bear, which has turned out to be one of the most famous children stories of all time.

– SkyDome (Toronto’s Rogers Centre) displays the largest Sony big screen in the world. 10 meters x 33.6 meters, wow! This is some good asset for a movie night, I am sure!

– You remember the funny actor, Leslie Nielsen? He is a real Canadian and his brother was the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada for two years! That is something for a mother to be proud of!

– Canada holds the record of winning the most golden medals ever won at the Winter Olympics! This record has been set at taking 14 golden medals at 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

– Where is the name Canada originated from? Well…. Basically it got its name by mistake! When a French explorer came to Canada, he met some locals who invited him in their home, which was called ‘kanata’. The explorer interpreted the name as the name of the country. Tadaa! Canada was born.

– Montreal is home to many beautiful churches and is also called The City of Saints of the City of a Hundred Bell Towers. Wouldn’t you go love to see that too? I would for sure!

– In Canada there is a Ice hotel which is only open for three months in the year. Why you ask? Well, every summer the hotel melts away! So every year they rebuild the hotel with using 400 tons of ice and 12.000 tons of snow. Wow! That’s some ‘cool’ residence I think!

– Did you know that Pamela Anderson, Leonard Cohen, Avril Lavigne, Keanu Reeves and Jim Carrey are all Canadian? I didn’t! But they have some good actors representing their country I would say!
